Coach's Bios

HEAD SWIM & DIVE COACH- MARC TARTARO

     Coach Tartaro is in his 3rd year teaching in Cobb County and is currently at Mabry Middle School. His previous 2 years were spent at Sprayberry High School where he produced 3 state champions and 10 All-Americans while head coaching the Swim & Dive team.

     Coach Tartaro has obtained nation certifications in Group Exercise Training and Total Body Conditioning.  He is also a member of the National Youth Leadership Forum Nominating Committee and the National Interscholastic Swim Coaches Association as well as several other local and state swimming associations.

     Coach Tartaro has a pair of undergraduate degrees from Kennesaw State University, including Psychology and Education. During his tenure at KSU he participated in collegiate athletics as a member of the KSU competition cheerleading squad, placing 4th in the nation in their divison. He spends his free time running triathlons and training for a half marathon.

ASST. SWIM COACH- ALISON STEINMETZ

Alison is a graduate of Kennesaw State University were she was a two sport collegiate athlete. She competed in both Cross Country and Track. This is her first year teaching at Walker.

ASST. DIVING COACH- JESSICA JOHNSTONE

Coach Johnstone is in her third year as the Upper School Counselor and diving coach at Walker. Jessica grew up in the Marietta area and was named High School All-American as a member of Walton's High School's diving team and the Metro Atlanta Divers. Jessica attended the University of Notre Dame on a diving scholarship and graduated with a double major in psychology and computer applications. At Notre Dame, Jessica was named Academic All-American honorable mention and awarded the Knute Rockne Scholar Athlete award her senior year. She then attended Colorado State where she earned her master's degree in Counseling psychology while volunteer coaching with the university's diving team and working in the university's counseling department. Jessica recently completed USA Diving's coaching certification course and currently coaches with local United States Diving teams.

In addition to counseling and coaching at Walker, Jessica teaches Introduction to Psychology, AP Psychology, and co-facilitates the Peer Leadership Program. She also sponsors the Student Advisory Team, EDIN, and Relay for Life.
